Marburg virus just like Ebola belongs to Filoviridae family.Uganda has reported a confirmed outbreak in Kampala.The reservoir of the virus is unclear but is believed to be fruit bats.Transmission is via contact with body fluids/tissues of infected symptomatic/ death person or animal.Prevention is achieved through meticulous Infection Prevention and Control procedures.There is no known cure or vaccine for the disease.Kindly report immediately any febrile case with history of travel to Uganda in the last 3 weeks to Ministry of Health through these hotline numbers; 0732353535 or 0729471414 .
